Rec chief calls 2009 good year

Aurora -- Parks/Recreation Numero uno Jim Kraus said 2009 was "another good year" for the unit, with participation in many programs increasing.
He outlined the pivot on's 2009 annual report for members of the parks/rec cabinet last week.
"Support for and participation in community events in 2009 was tremendous," Kraus said, citing the three see-sponsored distance runs, July 4 festivities, summer concerts, breakfast with Santa and deteriorate attack car show at Sunny Lake.
The department's expenses were decreased by $31,716 in 2009, while returns was up by $24,030 when comparing the budgeted amounts to the existent amounts.
Expenses amounted to $1.43 million, while returns not including general fund contributions was $360,039. For 2010, expenses are projected to be $1.46 million and take $348,500.
Kraus said the city developed an unanimity with the schools on shared maintenance of athletic fields, got old playground accoutrements from Harmon School and cooperated with several Boy Scouts in their Eagle Scout projects.
