I have a one and only idea on how Austin can save the Cactus Cafe, the slight live music club at the University of Texas, and it's a solving that even people who don't care about tunes should enjoy.
As extended as they enjoy a good stiff drink now and again. Now and again being breaking into a 12-stall at 8 a.m.
According to Men's Health magazine , Austin is ranked fifth in crapulousness in the United States . Way to go, Austin.
Why not turn Austin's celebratory lion-heartedness into a fundrasier to save the Cactus? The University of Texas is closing the state, and getting rid of informal classes, to save a piddling $122,000 a year .
Why not get every Austin drinker to put a nickel in the cash-drawer for every beer or cocktail consumed to save the honky-tonk? That would allow our drunks to feel a sense of civic involvement. And it would give them an stall to keep drinking.
